The exemplary and environment friendly waste management model followed by Ukulhas is a model replicated and followed by other islands across the country as well. In addition to the beautiful coral gardens, Ukulhas is also blessed with varieties of sea creatures such as sharks, dolphins, turtles and manta rays along with an abundance of fishes and vast community of underwater organisms.

Seafood is an important part of local cuisine, often served with rice and Island grown fruits and vegetables. One of the foods unique to Ukulhas is the traditional homemade confection is known as ‘MAADU’, a sweet cake, which is usually prepared on the occasion of Eid Celebration, by using a traditional rudimentary stove made by using three stones in a triangle shape.
